Power Exchange, Accident Reduction and ISO22301 Certification at the Same Time

Proof of system for maintaining continuity of core business in case of disaster or accident

[에너지데일리 송병훈 기자] The Korea Power Exchange (Chairman Young-Tak Cho) announced on the 6th that it acquired both’Excellent Disaster Reduction Company’ and’ISO22301 (Business Continuity Management System)’ certification in December last year. As a result, the Korea Power Exchange has completed the establishment of a management system to maintain the continuity of core business in the event of a disaster or accident.

The domestic certification,’Excellent Disaster Reduction Company’ and the international certification,’ISO22301′, minimize the damage caused by the malfunction and quickly recover, and perform key functions within the target time when the core functions of the organization are interrupted due to a disaster or accident. It is a management system evaluation system that includes strategies and procedures that can be resumed.

The Power Exchange has been striving to establish a functional continuity plan and business continuity management system for rapid recovery without interruption of the operation of the power system and the power market, which are the core functions of the agency, even in crisis situations such as disasters or accidents.

In July of last year, Chairman Young-Tak Cho declared the introduction of the Functional Continuity Plan and formed a dedicated TF, strengthening the commitment of employees to build a functional continuity plan and business continuity management system. Bong-Hwan Hwang, head of the safety management department of the Korea Power Exchange, said, “It is most important to ensure the continuity of business related to core functions for stable power system and power market operation.” Through training, we will ensure that core functions are not interrupted in any crisis situation.”
