The Porsche car once driven by Argentina’s’football legend’ Diego Maradona, who passed away in November last year, appeared at the auction for the first time.

On the 2nd (local time), the auction company Bonums announced that the Porsche 911 Carrera 2, which was released to Maradona in 1992, will be auctioned on the 3-10th in Paris, France.

This vehicle was driven by Maradona when he moved to Seville, the Spanish soccer team after a 15-month suspension due to cocaine use at the time was released.

The 1992-1993 season Maradona spent in Seville is the last season on the European stage, and is also called the’Forgotten Season’ in that it did not play a significant role.

At that time, Maradona drove this silver Porsche to and from the training ground. There was also a time when he was caught driving this car in the city center and running at a speed of 180 km/h, ignoring the signal.

When Maradona left Seville in 1993 and returned to Argentina, Porsche was sold to a new owner on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

This man has owned the car for 20 years, then passed on to the current owner in 2016, Bonums explained, after several French collectors.

According to Bonums, only 1,200 units of the same model were produced in two years. The maximum speed is 260 km per hour and the cumulative mileage is 120,000 km.

The estimated price of the auction was set at 150,000-200,000 euros (about 200 million to 270 million won). However, the auction company expects to win the bid at a much higher price.

An official from Bonums told Reuters, “Not only car collectors, but football fans, and those who loved Maradona, the’god of football,’ will be interested.”
