The Porsche car once driven by Argentine’soccer hero’ Maradona, who died in November last year, appeared at the auction for the first time.

According to the auction company Bonums on the 2nd (local time), the’Porsche 911 Carrera 2′, which was released as a new car in 1992, when Maradona transferred to the Spanish soccer team Seville after a 15-month suspension was released due to the use of cocaine, is coming from Paris, France on the 3rd. From then on, it will be auctioned for a week.

Maradona drove this silver Porsche to and from Seville training grounds. There was also a time when he was caught driving this car in the city center and running at a speed of 180 km/h, ignoring the signal.

The 1992-1993 season, when Maradona played for Seville, was the last season on the European stage, and it is also called the’Forgotten Season’ in that it did not play a significant role.

When Maradona left Seville in 1993 and returned to Argentina, Porsche was sold to a new owner on the Spanish island of Mallorca. He owned the car for 20 years, and after going through several French collectors, it is said to have been handed over to the current owner in 2016.

According to Bonums, only 1,200 of the same models were produced in two years. The maximum speed is 260 km per hour and the cumulative mileage is 120,000 km.

Bonums told Reuters that “not only car collectors, but football fans, and those who loved Maradona, the god of football, will be interested.”

The estimated price of the auction was set at about 200 million to 270 million won (150,000 to 200,000 euros). However, Bonums expects to be successful at a much higher price.

Meanwhile, Maradona is rated as the best football player of all time. He won one World Cup, two Serie A, and one UEFA Cup (predecessor to Europa League), scored 34 goals in 91 matches in A match, and 259 goals in 491 matches in the club.
