[아시아경제 권재희 기자] Pope Francis once again called for an end to the civil war in Syria, saying that it is “one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in history” on the 15th of the 10th anniversary of the civil war in Syria.

The Pope said, referring to the Syrian Civil War after three prayers on Sunday on the 14th (local time), “one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in history, with countless casualties, millions of missing persons, and thousands of missing persons.”

He added, “The Syrian civil war is rampant in all forms of violence and destruction, and the entire Syrian people, especially children, women and the elderly, suffered from the most vulnerable people.”

He said he sincerely appealed to all parties to the dispute to send out a signal of goodwill to provide a ray of hope to the weary people.

The Pope also urged the international community to contribute to the end of the Syrian civil war and reconstruction of the state, and concluded, “Let’s pray that the torn Syria will not be forgotten, and that our solidarity will revive hope.”

The civil war in Syria, which marks its 10th anniversary on the 15th, spread to a large-scale civil war, starting with anti-government protests criticizing the regime of Bashar Al-Sad.

According to the Syrian Human Rights Observatory, a Syrian civil war monitoring group headquartered in London, England, about 380,000 civilians have died since the outbreak of the civil war, and about 12 million refugees have been estimated.

There are also statistics that the economic system collapses due to a prolonged civil war, and more than 60% of children are suffering from starvation.
