Police Commissioner Kim Chang-ryong said on the 11th, “We had a consultation with the Metropolitan Police Agency on the establishment of a child abuse prevention system at the Police Agency.” I will take action in the direction.” Commissioner Kim said at a press conference held at the Migeun-dong Police Office in Seoul, saying, “The (Jung In-yang) incident that occurred last year should not happen again.”

The establishment of a dedicated child abuse team is a measure to prevent the recurrence of the’Jeong In-i Incident’, where the internal affairs were terminated and no charges were made even after three reports of suspected abuse were received in October last year. However, under the Child Welfare Act, a child is under the age of 18. In the case of child abuse cases between the ages of 13 and under 18, the police plan to expand the Yeocheng (women and youth) strong teams, which are piloted by 14 police stations across the country, to 74 police stations in the first class.

However, inside and outside the police, there are concerns that there will be regional variations as the child abuse team is in fact an autonomous police office. In accordance with the amendment to the Police Act passed by the National Assembly at the end of last year, from this year, police affairs are divided into three categories: the state, investigation, and autonomy. In response, the National Police Agency explained that a task force (TF) centered on the Deputy Police Officer and the head of the National Investigation Headquarters is preparing appropriate countermeasures. A high-ranking police official said, “The national police will study the improvement of the system, including personnel, and the investigation will improve the investigation, and the self-governing police will consider the educational issues for child investigators, so that measures can be implemented as soon as they come out.”

On the other hand, Commissioner Kim said that three people had applied by the morning of the day to the first public call for the head of the National Investigation Headquarters, who received documents from the 1st to 6pm. The head of the police’s investigation control tower, Guksubon, is the chief of security, a rank directly under the chief of the police administration (the chief of the police), and has the authority to direct and supervise the chief of the provincial police department in relation to the investigation.

Commissioner Kim said, “I know that lawyers from the legal profession and attorneys from the police have applied.
