Pfizer vaccine for 75 years of age or older. First arrival on the 24th… 500,000 people until early April

1.05 million AZ vaccines also arrive twice next month… Assigned to nursing facilities 65 years of age or older

500,000 Pfizer vaccines to be vaccinated to elderly people 75 years of age or older and residents and workers of elderly facilities will enter Korea from the 24th of this month.

1.05 million AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccines supplied by COVAX facility, an international vaccine supply organization, will be delivered in April.

The new coronavirus infectious disease (Corona 19) vaccination promotion team announced on the 17th that the arrival time in Korea for 500,000 people secured through a direct contract with Pfizer and 1.05 million AstraZeneca vaccines, which they decided to receive through COVAX, has been confirmed.

Of the 500,000 Pfizer vaccines, 250,000 will arrive on the 24th of this month, and the remaining 250,000 will arrive in the last week of this month.

The vaccine will be delivered to 22 vaccination centers nationwide and will be used for vaccinations from April 1st to seniors aged 75 or older, residents of elderly facilities, and workers.

Pfizer vaccines are expected to arrive in 3 million more from April to June, but the timing of the arrival of these quantities has not yet been announced.

The AstraZeneca vaccine supplied by Kovacs comes in 345,000 people at the beginning of April and 75,000 people at the end of April, respectively. It is for 1.05 million people in total.

This vaccine is produced at the Andong Plant of SK Bioscience, which is a consigned production facility for AstraZeneca vaccine, but it is listed in the WHO (World Health Organization) emergency use category, so it is carried out to Europe and then re-imported into Korea.

Vaccines assigned to Korea will be transported from the Netherlands on the 31st and 22nd of this month. The local customs clearance process takes 2-3 days, after which it enters the country by airmail.

The AstraZeneca vaccine, which will be available in April, will be used for vaccinations in nursing hospitals and facilities residents and workers over 65 years of age.

The government has signed vaccine purchase contracts for a total of 79 million so far. 10 million people were secured through Kovax, and contracts with individual pharmaceutical companies were 10 million for AstraZeneca, 13 million for Pfizer, 6 million for Janssen, 20 million for Modena, and 20 million for Nova Vax.

Earlier in February, 58,000 Pfizer vaccines were received through Kovacs, and 787,000 were received from AstraZeneca. Nova Bax, Janssen, and Modena are discussing the introduction schedule.
