Vaccination for a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) jointly developed by US pharmaceutical company Pfizer and German company Bioentech will begin on the 27th in Korea.
The Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team said on the 21st that “Pfizer vaccine will arrive at Incheon International Airport at 12:10 pm on the 26th.” The introduction schedule has been confirmed, and if there are no special circumstances, it will come in as scheduled.”
The vaccine is the initial volume of 58,500 out of 10 million to be introduced under a contract with the global vaccine co-purchase organization’Covax Facility’. It is reported that the quantity produced at Pfizer’s factory in Belgium is being carried on Korean Air flights from the Netherlands. Because Pfizer vaccine must be stored and distributed at a cryogenic temperature of around -75 degrees below zero, it is transported in a special box.
The quarantine authorities plan to store the Pfizer vaccine in this way at the Korea cryogenic distribution center in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, and deliver it to hospitals dedicated to small decomposition infectious diseases and vaccination centers by region. In the delivery process, the condition of maintaining the cryogenic cold chain and the location of the transport vehicle are tracked in real time.
The targets of Pfizer’s Corona 19 vaccination, which will begin on the 27th after delivery, are medical staff who treat corona19 patients, and about 55,000 people working at hospitals dedicated to infectious diseases, hospitals dedicated to bases, hospitals operating severe patient treatment beds, and life treatment centers. The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) announced on the 20th that 94.6% of Pfizer vaccination recipients agreed to the vaccination.
Vaccination centers where Pfizer vaccination will be conducted are currently installed at the National Medical Center in Jung-gu, Seoul (center), Cheonan Hospital of Soonchunhyang University (Jungbu), Busan National University Hospital in Yangsan (Yeongnam), and Chosun University Hospital (Honam). In addition to these four, Daegu-Gyeongbuk vaccination centers will soon open at Keimyung University Daegu Dongsan Hospital. At hospitals dedicated to infectious diseases with more than 120 people vaccinated for Corona 19, they receive the vaccine directly and inoculate themselves. As a result, the schedule has been confirmed that AstraZeneca’s Corona 19 vaccine will start on the 26th to residents and workers in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities, and Pfizer’s vaccine will start on the 27th to the Corona 19 treatment medical staff. Subsequently, the specific vaccination targets and schedule will be additionally announced by the quarantine authorities whenever the supply timing and quantity of the Corona 19 vaccine are confirmed.
