Pfizer’s CEO predicted that within a few weeks, children and adolescents aged 12 to 15 could be vaccinated against the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Israel within a few weeks.

Accordingly, it is expected that children and adolescents aged 12 to 15 can start vaccinating against Corona 19 as early as May to June.

Pfizer CEO Albert Burla appeared on Israeli Channel 12 News on the 12th (local time) and said he expects to begin vaccinating children and adolescents under the age of 16 in Israel soon in a few weeks. .

It also revealed that at the end of this year, elementary school students of younger ages will be able to get the company’s COVID-19 vaccine.

CEO Burley’s remarks came after Cheji Levy, the head of the Israeli Ministry of Health, recently said that he will start vaccinating against Corona 19 for 12 years old as early as May to June.

At the time, Levy said that the exact timing of vaccination depends on the clinical trials undertaken by the vaccine manufacturers.

Pfizer has already completed registration of clinical trial subjects in 2259 children and adolescents aged 12 to 15 in January and is conducting a clinical trial. At the time, Pfizer expected the results of clinical trials targeting 12 to 15 years old in the second quarter of 2021.

In this regard, Israeli health officials said on the 10th that there were no major side effects as a result of vaccinating about 600 children and adolescents between the ages of 12 and 16 who are severely at risk of developing Corona 19 infection. The children and adolescents suffered from obesity, diabetes, immune disorders, severe respiratory and cardiovascular disease, and underlying diseases such as cancer.

Pfizer also plans to conduct additional clinical trials on infants aged 5-11 and infants under 5 years of age.

Currently, Israel has the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate in the world and is the country that is most approaching the formation of collective immunity. As of the 11th, 44.94% of all citizens completed the second dose. The Israeli government announced that the same day ago, 81% of Israeli troops developed immunity to COVID-19 and reached mass immunity.

Meanwhile, as the need for vaccinating COVID-19 for children and adolescents gradually increased, other vaccine manufacturers other than Pfizer began research.

Modena is also currently conducting a clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine in children and adolescents over the age of 12, and AstraZeneca has begun clinical trials of the vaccine in 300 children and adolescents over the age of 6 in the UK.

Janssen, an affiliate of Johnson & Johnson, plans to conduct clinical trials not only on children and adolescents, but also infants, newborns, pregnant women, and people with compromised immune systems.
