“It didn’t hurt at all. I thought it would be heavy like a flu shot, but I didn’t feel that way, and the moment I was hit, I felt at ease.”

Jeong Mi-kyung, 51, an employee of the US Department of the National Medical Center’s facility team, who is the first person in Korea to be vaccinated against Pfizer’s novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine, said in an interview with the JoongAng Ilbo at around 10:15 am on the 27th. After receiving the injection and examining the condition for about an hour, Jung’s expression was bright.

“I was a little nervous when I got the injection, but I didn’t feel like it was an injection at the moment I got it, and it wasn’t even more painful than when I was inoculated,” he said.

“I was worried about the symptoms of fever, but there is no fever or breathlessness,” he said. “It came out within an hour, but it’s okay.” He, who is in charge of medical waste treatment and environmental management, added, “I have been worried about infection for the past year, but after taking the 1st vaccination, I am really happy.

Injection into the upper deltoid muscle

The inside of the vaccination room at the Central Vaccination Center at the National Medical Center was divided into partitions. It took less than a minute for the nurse to check the name of the person to be vaccinated and the prevalence form, rub a cotton pad on the arm and complete the vaccination. Yejinpyo checks whether you are pregnant, your physical condition, whether you have ever been diagnosed with infection, whether you have ever received a vaccine other than Corona within the last two weeks, and whether an allergic reaction has occurred after vaccination.

The Pfizer vaccine is an intramuscular injection that fits the deltoid muscle in the upper arm. The second vaccination is required 21 days after the first vaccination. “I put an injection into the muscle. There may be some pain,” he said. “It is better not to sweat a lot like a sauna for 3 days after vaccination, and you should stop drinking alcohol.” Nurse Choi Na-young, who gave the injection that day, said, “It was no different from other vaccines,” he said, “but the syringe is softer.”
