[지앤이타임즈] Since the second half of last year, the Petroleum Management Institute, which has been conducting quality inspections on vehicle fuels in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment’s on-road inspection of running vehicle emissions, will expand joint inspections by establishing a cooperative system with the Ministry of Environment.

It was decided to conduct it twice a year in the first and second half of the year, reflecting the evaluation of improving work efficiency through cooperation between agencies through the prevention of environmental pollution and the crackdown on fake oil.

As part of this, the Korea Petroleum Institute (CEO Sohn Ju-seok) announced that it will conduct a joint inspection of fake oil in connection with the road inspection of running vehicle emissions in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and local governments from the 15th to 19th.

Accordingly, the petroleum management agency conducts quality inspection on fuels of large-sized freight vehicles with high possibility of using fake petroleum, along with an exhaust gas road inspection of the Ministry of Environment, centering on areas where vehicles are concentrated in spring where a lot of fine dust is generated.

If the inspection results are found to be fake oil, it plans to crack down on the supplier through a traceback inspection.

In addition, during the joint inspection, the driver will be informed of the method and procedure for reporting consumers, so that if the vehicle’s fuel is suspected of being fake oil, the Petroleum Management Service’s Oil Call Center (1588-5166) will be actively used.

Sohn Joo-seok, chairman of the Petroleum Management Institute, said, “Since fake oil is directly connected to public safety and environmental pollution, we will do our best to prevent safety accidents caused by fake oil.”
