A former national football player, one of the leading candidates for the Peruvian presidential election, announced that a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) was confirmed a week before the election.

National Victory Party presidential candidate George Forsight, 38, said in a Twitter video message on the 4th (local time), “I was positive for the Corona 19 test. I will be in charge of the movement,” he said.

Forsight, who has played 7 A-match matches as a goalkeeper for the Peruvian national team, is one of the 18 candidates for the presidential election on the 11th.

Until the beginning of this year, it remained at the forefront of public opinion polls, but fell to the 3rd to 5th place in recent polls. However, it is difficult to predict the outcome as all of the 1st to 6th place candidates are competing with single-digit approval ratings.

In Peru, where the Corona 19 situation has recently worsened, four presidential candidates, including candidate Forsight, have suffered from coronavirus so far. All the other three recovered.

Candidate Shiro Galves (72), who was confirmed last month, participated in the debate on the candidate for the presidential election by burn while recovering at home.

Among the candidates, only 79-year-old Hernando Desotho was vaccinated against Corona 19. However, it was known that the vaccination was administered in the United States rather than in Peru, and controversy also occurred.

With a population of 33 million, Peru’s cumulative corona 19 confirmed 1.58 million, and 52,877 deaths. Both the confirmed and the dead each day hit the highest this month.
