The people’s strength issued a statement urging the Central Election Commission to actively investigate TBS’s “Let’s do it (1)” campaign, which was engulfed in the pre-election campaign controversy.

Members of the National Assembly’s Administrative Safety Committee, under the People’s Power, issued a statement on the 11th, saying, “The National Election Commission has no problem with the allegations of the pre-election campaign of TBS Traffic Broadcasting Corporation, in the name of a campaign to encourage media subscriptions ahead of the by-election of the mayor of Seoul and Busan He said, “This position of the NEC is abusing of the sacred values ​​and political neutrality imposed by the Constitution.”

Earlier, TBS launched a campaign to create 1 million YouTube subscribers in November last year. Broadcasters Kim Eo-jun and Joo Jin-woo, actor Kim Gyu-ri, and other TBS program hosts appeared on the video, saying “I have to work (1) now,” and “I do work (1)” and solicited subscriptions. As’Il (1)’ reminded the Democratic Party’s election preference, criticism was raised online, saying, “Is it not a pre-election campaign?” Eventually, TBS stopped the campaign on the 5th.

Regarding the controversy, the National Election Commission said that the TBS campaign was not viewed as a pre-election campaign, but self-terminated, taking into account that the campaign was not intended to affect the disagreement of a specific candidate in a specific election and that the campaign was stopped by itself.

Regarding this decision, the power of the people said, “Unless the election is not specified, the situation in which the election date and the area where the election will be held is confirmed, and the preferences of the candidates for each political party and party affiliation are determined. Is it the situation?” he pointed out, “If TBS is not a pre-election campaign because of its own suspension of the campaign, we have to ask whether all violations of the election-related laws that have been halted in the future will be regarded as innocent.”

Accordingly, the power of the people urged to promptly investigate allegations of TBS’s pre-election campaign in accordance with laws and principles, and at the same time request that the chairperson and all members of the’Internet Election Report Deliberation Committee’ under Article 8-5 of the Public Official Election Act be replaced. did.

Meanwhile, the prosecution also allocated the case to the Seoul West District Prosecutor’s Office and initiated an investigation as the Judicial Examination Preparatory Group (Sa Jun-mo) accused TBS CEO and staff of TBS for violating the Public Official Election Act.
