[천지일보=손지하 기자] The Participating Solidarity reported to the Fair Trade Commission that it was illegal for the three mobile communication companies to launch 5G-only terminals.

On the 11th, the Participation Solidarity held a press conference and criticized the actions of the three mobile operators that released the latest smartphones exclusively for 5G as’forced to join 5G.

The Participation Solidarity argued that “the three mobile operators commercialized 5G services based on their market dominant position with a total market share of 90%, and forced to sign up for a plan by releasing the latest high-end terminals exclusively for 5G.”

He pointed out, “If you sign up on a self-sufficient basis from August of last year, it is not technically impossible to open LTE with the latest handsets, but the three mobile operators are forcing 5G, which has problems of communication instability and high cost because of profits.”

The Participation Solidarity urged the three mobile carriers to provide ▲systematic compensation for 5G user damage ▲providing sufficient data for mid-to-low-priced 5G plans of 20,000 won to 50,000 KRW ▲to establish a transparent distribution structure.

5G service has been commercially available in April 2018, more than a year and a half has passed, but the quality of service is still controversial.

According to the results of the 2020 communication service coverage check and quality evaluation, released by the Ministry of Science and ICT, last month, 40% of the multi-use facilities in the country cannot use 5G. Even in the case of metropolitan subways, 5G was not built in about half.
