“I felt helpless as I watched the National Assembly deal only with the bills burdened by businesses.”

Park Yong-man, chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce (photo), said in a year-end interview held on the 23rd at the Chamber of Commerce in Jung-gu, Seoul, saying, “It is a love-hate relationship with the National Assembly”. Regarding the 3rd Law on Corporate Regulation (Commercial Law, Fair Trade Law, and Financial Complex Enterprise Group Supervision Act), which passed the National Assembly plenary session led by the ruling party, “I still have an idea whether it should have been handled so far like the political bill. When we think of companies, it has no choice but to be over-legislative.” He added, “I hope that measures can be taken to prevent side effects even under subordinate laws such as enforcement regulations.”

Regarding the re-proliferation of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), he pointed out that “the uncertainty will remain even if the vaccine is released,” he said. “I am concerned that the household and private sectors have too much debt.” He said, “How to manage the aftereffects left by Corona 19 will determine whether it will only be’shiny recovery’.”

He also expressed other beliefs about the argument that economic organizations should unite and move together. He said, “It is natural for each economic organization to have a different voice as the purpose and mission of its establishment is different,” he said. “The number of economic organizations gathering together to make joint statements should be reduced.”

Chairman Park, who took office in August 2013 as chairman of the Korean Award, will remain in office until next March. Chairman Park said, “When I first took office, and when I was reappointed, compared to what I said as the chairman of the inauguration and fortress, it’s almost the same.”
