“My last hope is the announcement of the results of an ex officio investigation by the National Human Rights Commission. Getting confirmation of my infringed’human rights’ from an agency to protect’human rights’ is amidst the cruel secondary abuses inflicted during this confusion. Will be the first step to revive my mind and body.
On the afternoon of the 25th, prior to the announcement of the results of the National Human Rights Commission’s ex officio investigation on the late Mayor Park Won-soon’s sexual violence suspicion, the Mayor of Seoul’s Joint Action on Violent Sexual Violence Incident (Joint Action), a victim support organization, held a press conference to “call for justifiable recommendations”.
At this meeting, the victim urged the Human Rights Commission to acknowledge the victims of sexual violence and recommend system improvement to recover the damage and prevent the recurrence of sexual violence through a statement of position (jointly read by Ahn Kyung-ok, the National Council for Sexual Violence Consultation).
On July 30, 2020, the Human Rights Commission decided on an ex officio investigation into the alleged sexual harassment by Mayor Park, and has conducted the investigation for more than five months through an ex officio investigation team consisting of nine members. The investigation includes not only suspicions against Mayor Park, but also revealing the behavior of acquiescence and aid, and the structure that made it possible.
The 2nd Plenary Committee of the Human Rights Commission held on this day in 2021 decides whether to decide whether to make a decision on the report on the results of an ex officio investigation such as sexual harassment of the mayor of Seoul. When a resolution is reached this afternoon, the NHRCK announced that it would immediately announce the results. However, it is still unknown whether a decision is made or when the discussion ends.

The victim said in a statement released on the day, “For more than 6 months, the witch hunts and personal shavings have become more severe day by day, and now I don’t have much power left to endure those things,” he said. “I convey my feelings with desperate heart ahead of the committee’s decision.” I am writing this article hoping that the people will make a fair judgment.”
He said that secondary abuse was reduced only by the prosecution’s announcement of the death of the deceased and the seriousness of the case, and said to the Human Rights Commission, “I ask you to calm the confusion in our society by confirming the facts to save someone’s life.” .
The victim said, “The people who have emphasized protection and human rights of the weak were the most important people to protect their position and what they enjoyed through him at an important moment.” The Human Rights Commission also judged the suspicion of cover-up and secondary abuse of the case of former Mayor Park aides. I told him to do it.
“I’m a person who doesn’t have any motive to hurt someone with a lie.” “Everyone accepts the facts as the truth, and our society never repeats these mistakes and hurts again for someone else who is suffering at this moment. Please try to improve the system so that it does not happen,” he asked the members of the Human Rights Committee.
“As a result of the Human Rights Commission’s investigation, I hope to be a historical cornerstone”

On the other hand, the Korean Women’s Telephone and the Korean Sexual Violence Counseling Center submitted an opinion on this resolution on the 21st, stating, “With human rights judgments and just recommendations on the matter, we must alert the alarm to violent sexual violence and sexist labor practices.”
Through their opinions, ▲ the issue of recruiting and distributing gender discriminatory female secretaries ▲ planting assistance for the gender-discriminated market, labor issues with emotional support ▲ a powerful and vertical structure that could not check the will of the market and could not restrict behavior ▲ He stressed that there should be a correction recommendation from the Human Rights Commission on the issue of violations of the guidelines for sexual violence by organizations that have made it into a blind spot for sexual violence ▲ Secondary damage that treated victims unfavorably depending on the victim’s location.
He said, “I look forward to the results of ex officio investigation by the National Human Rights Commission as a historical cornerstone of the change towards gender equal justice and human rights.”
