However, the Supreme Court’s all-in-one consensus overturned the results of the appeals trial again. The Supreme Court destroyed and remanded the case, saying that some of the sums found innocent at the appeal trial should be considered guilty. According to the purpose of the Supreme Court ruling, Vice-Chairman Lee’s guilty amount was 8.6 billion won.
Although the amount was reduced compared to the first trial and increased compared to the appeal trial, it was analyzed that it was difficult for Vice-Chairman Lee to avoid the imprisonment, as the amount of bribes exceeded 5 billion won at the time of destruction and repatriation. If the money of the Samsung Group, a corporation, was used as a bribe, it would be embezzlement by Vice-Chairman Lee, and the law on the aggravated punishment of certain economic crimes stipulates that if the amount of embezzlement exceeds 5 billion won, imprisonment for at least 5 years or life imprisonment. to be.
