Park Byung-Seok “Promotion of Kyrgyzstan as a key partner…the relationship between the two countries will be stronger”

National Assembly Speaker Park Byung-seok said on the 3rd, “The Korean government will promote Kyrgyzstan as an ODA (official development assistance) key partner from this year, and the quarantine and civilian cooperation relations between the two countries will be strengthened even more.”

Chairman Park held a’Lunch Meeting inviting Kyrgyzstan compatriots and representatives from Goryeoin’ at the Sheraton Hotel Grand Volume in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on the 4th day of the official tour of the three Central Asian countries at around 1:30 pm (local time).

Chairman Park said, “If you become a key partner country for five years from this year, the amount of free cooperation centered on KOICA will increase and your business fields will be diversified.” Said.

He said, “The main purpose of this visit is to raise the level of Kyrgyzstan to the next level as a key partner country for the new Northern policy promoted by the Republic of Korea.” When entangled like weft and warp, the effect can be enhanced even more,” he emphasized.

“During this visit, I will meet with President Sadir Zaparov, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of the National Assembly to discuss bilateral cooperation and international cooperation in the international community.” Said.

On this day, as representatives of the Kyrgyz Korean compatriots, the President of the Korean Association of Korea Byamcheslav, Kim Ki-soo, the president of the Korean Association, and 4 members of the Korean Association and 4 Korean residents were seated. The event was held on a small scale in the aftermath of Corona 19, with only a minimum number of attendees.

At the meeting, Kyrgyzstan Koreans also requested △Vaccination for the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) of overseas Koreans, △Medical support such as dispatching medical volunteers △Support of 2.5 billion won for the expansion of the’Korea House’.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are 17,000 Kyrgyz Koreans. These are the second to fourth generations of Koreans who were forcibly relocated during the Japanese colonial period in 1937.

There are about 1700 Koreans. It is known that the majority of long-term residents and their families entered Korea for purposes such as missionary, study abroad, and trade.

Previously, Chairman Park finished his trip to Tajikistan for 3 nights and 4 days, and arrived at Manas International Airport in Bishkek at around 11:40 am on a Tajikistan charter flight (SZ 8217) this morning.

The visit to Kyrgyzstan was the first in the history of the Korean National Assembly Speaker since diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992. Chairman Park will conduct an ODA site tour in the Cholpon-Ata area, 262km east of Bishkek, starting with the compatriots’ meeting on this day. On the 5th, the President of Kyrgyzstan, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister are prevented.

Meanwhile, Chairman Park went on a tour of three Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, on a schedule of 7 nights and 9 days on the afternoon of the 31st of last month. Since taking office in June of last year, it is the fourth overseas tour after Sweden, Germany, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain.

In particular, the visit was made at the request of foreign ministers from five Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, who attended the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum held in November last year.
