Two students who embraced and promised to marry at a Pakistani university who were very conservative about the relationship between men and women were eventually expelled.
India Today reported on the 13th (local time) that the’Public Proposal’ event was held on the 12th at the Lahore University campus in Pakistan.
According to the news, a woman boiled on one knee on the floor and handed a bouquet to a man to marry him. The man received a bouquet and hugged the woman.
The people around the couple congratulated and cheered. Unfortunately, however, there was a problem with their happiness. This is because the photos and videos of this scene spread online.
After confirming this, the university summoned the two students to the Special Disciplinary Committee. However, they were not present.
Lahore University said on the 12th that “they were expelled from school for violating university rules and for’serious violations’ for which the disciplinary committee did not come.”
The news agency analyzed the university’s decision as “a strict Pakistani culture against gender relations”.
In Pakistan, even couples are known to be very conservative about publicly expressing affection between men and women.
In response, Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari, daughter of former Pakistani Prime Minister Bena Zir Bhutto, criticized the university’s actions as foolishness.
In a tweet, former cricketer Wassim Akram’s wife, Shaniera Akram, wrote in a tweet that “college can drive him out, but not their love.”
