“I wish I could overcome the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) by remembering the March 1st Movement!”

Jang Ye-jin (9) from Wangseon Elementary School in Daegu stood in front of the camera in Hanbok on the 1st. It was a white jeogori and a black skirt, a dress reminiscent of Yu Gwan-soon (1902~1920) who led the March 1st Movement. Jang Yang is the current granddaughter of the independence activist Jang Jin-hong (1895~1930) doctor.

On this day, Jangyang held a Taegeukgi in one hand and held a picture toward the camera. In the picture, two women in white jeogori and black skirts waving Taegeukgi like Jangyang. Above these women, a virus image representing Corona 19 floated in the air. In the meantime, the words’Overcoming Corona with the spirit of the March 1 Movement!’ stood out.

Through this painting, Jangyang expressed the belief that if we responded to Corona 19 with one heart, we can overcome it, just as our nation shouted for national independence during the March 1st Movement, gained courage and hope for independence, and eventually achieved liberation. The descendants of the independence fighters delivered a message to support the overcoming of Corona 19 on the 3rd and 1st anniversary of the 102nd anniversary.
