Oriental doctors are also visiting… 70% health insurance payment

Payment of the cost of visiting an oriental doctor… Out-of-pocket expenses 28,000 won

Non-indemnity targets such as allergic diseases also drastically decreased from March

As early as the first half, oriental doctors will be able to visit and treat acupuncture, moxibustion, and cupping.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare held the Health Insurance Policy Deliberation Committee (Geonjeongshim) on the 29th and reported on the plan to promote a pilot project for the number of visited medical treatments in Oriental medicine, with the main contents of paying 93,000 months to oriental doctors who visited the hospital. The Ministry of Health and Welfare decided on a plan to apply health insurance that includes these details at the 2nd Public Health Review in 2021.

First of all, according to the proposal, the Ministry of Health and Welfare will start a pilot project for visiting oriental medicine from May to June after receiving participating councilors. Oriental doctors can still visit visits if they wish. However, it is true that visits are not common because there is no payment for this. The Ministry of Health and Welfare explained, “We will expand (visit service) to the field of oriental medicine in order to ensure patients’ medical options faithfully,” and “community oriental clinics will participate in the pilot project to provide visitation treatment services to patients with disabilities.” Accordingly, if a patient with limited mobility or a guardian of a patient requests it, an oriental medical doctor visits and conducts treatment, and 70% of the royal treatment (93,000 won) is paid from the health insurance finance. The patient is responsible for 30% of the cost of about 28,000 won.

In addition, costs for allergic disease testing and treatment, chronic musculoskeletal pain treatment, etc., which were not covered, will also be significantly reduced from March. The cost of the’Tryptase’ test, which diagnoses anaphylaxis with mast cells arising from an allergic reaction, is reduced from 215,000 won to 12,000 won, and the cost of the’auto serum skin reaction test’ to diagnose autoimmune urticaria is also 29,000 won To 9,000 won.

The exercise induction test, which examines systemic symptoms such as lung function, pulse, blood pressure, and asthma before and after exercise, is from 134,000 won to 67,000 won. You only need to pay from KRW 10,000 to KRW 40,000.

In addition, a preliminary benefit is also applied to’Cerebral Motor Cortex Stimulation’, an expensive procedure used in patients with chronic central and neurological pain, reducing the cost from 20 million won to 9.56 million won on an inpatient basis.
