A picture smaller than the size of A4 paper was sold for 82 million won at the K Auction auction held on the 17th. The starting price of the auction is 12 million won. However, after fierce competition, they found a new owner for an amount close to eight times. This work is’Water Drops’ by artist Chang-Yeol Kim (1929-2021),’Water Drop Painter’ who passed away in January. It is the power exerted by only one bright, bright water droplet drawn on the rough abrasion.

On the 23rd of last month, after the total successful bid exceeded 10 billion won at the Seoul Auction auction, the K Auction auction held that day ended with a total successful bid of 13.5 billion won. The number of entries was 169 points and the winning bid rate was 74%.

Among the’Water Drops’ works, the most expensive work was’Water Drop LSH70′ (No. 1979, No. 30), which started with 280 million won, and the final bid was 360 million won.

Although the price range was relatively low, another work that drew attention due to fierce competition was the painting of’Owl’ by painter Park Rae-hyun (1920-1976). The estimated cost of the’owl’ painted in ink and light on paper is 5 million won, and this painting met the new owner for 34 million won after fierce competition. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth last year, Park Rae-hyun was refocused by holding a retrospective exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. The’Owl’, which was awarded this time, is 45.5cm wide and 78cm long, showing two owls standing side by side.

The work that recorded the highest successful bid on this day was a painting by Yayoi Kusama, who won a bid for 1.31 billion won, and’With the Wind’ of Lee Ufan, who also attracted attention, was auctioned at 1.3 billion won.
