[아시아경제 김봉주 기자] A furry sheep rescued at an Australian animal shelter is drawing attention.

On the 24th (local time), the US CNN and others reported that a sheep carrying a messy fur in Lancefields in northern Melbourne, Australia was rescued.

‘Edgard Mission Sanctuary’, Australia’s farm animal shelter, rescued a sheep from a nearby forest earlier this month.

An animal shelter employee, Kyle, received a phone call saying, “There is a sheep without an owner in the woods. When he visited the site, Kyle found a sheep wandering alone and recalled that it was “the largest of the sheep I have ever seen in my life.” At the time of the rescue, the sheep were so smiling that their view was covered with tangled fur, and the body was in a state that even the shape could not be recognized. The fur was contaminated, covered with excrement and insects.

This sheep was named’Baarack’.

The shelter staff who safely rescued Barack decided to remove his hair. Barack’s body, who couldn’t move well by himself, came out with a whopping 35.4kg of hair cut off. Amidst the enormous size, the real Barack was very dry and severely malnourished. His eyesight was also lost due to the fur that covered his eyes. Healthy coats help control the sheep’s body temperature, but Barack’s coats were poisons that threatened survival.

In Barack’s ears buried in his fur, traces of’earmarks’ indicating that he was once raised on a farm were also found.

“Wild sheep, the ancestors of sheep, molt themselves, but sheep raised as livestock must be sheared by humans,” said Kyle. It is done,” he explained. Currently, sheep raised for the purpose of producing wool have been bred to increase the efficiency of hair production, so if humans do not shave the hair, the hair will continue to grow.

After undergoing dramatic changes, Barack is known to be regaining energy and adjusting to life in the shelter.

“Barack recovers very quickly and is curious. Little by little he is regaining his confidence every day,” said Kyle.
