As some conservative groups’ gatherings in Section 3 and 1 were’conditionally allowed’, concerns over quarantine emerged, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government decided to respond strictly.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 1st, as of the 26th of last month, a total of 1670 reports of the March 1 assembly were received in the Seoul area. More than 2,500 people are expected to participate in the urban rally in the form of press conferences, one-person protests, and nine or less gatherings.

If the city does not comply with any of the standards, such as △the size of △9 people or less in the area where the assembly is allowed, △compliance with the quarantine regulations, all of them will be reported as illegal and will take prosecution.

An official from the city of Seoul emphasized that “basically, illegal assemblies are blocked at the source,” and “we will strictly respond to illegal assemblies through accusations.” In case of violating the ban on assembly, a fine of not more than 3 million won is required according to the Infectious Disease Prevention Act.

In addition, the Seoul Metropolitan Government installed fences in the Seoul Plaza and guided quarantine measures to assembly groups. Depending on the situation, it plans to control subway exits and bypass city buses.

On-site collection is also conducted at the meeting. The city of Seoul plans to conduct joint work with the police in major places such as Seoul Plaza, and take measures such as accusations and fines depending on the case of violation.

An official from Seoul said, “We will go out to major areas where the assembly is held with the police on this day, and inform and check whether the quarantine regulations are observed.” I will do it.”

Earlier, the Seoul Administrative Court recently conditionally allowed some groups to meet in Section 3 and 1.

Regarding the assembly of the Free Korea Group, limited assembly was allowed under conditions such as 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., no more than 20 people, and prohibition from leaving the assembly site. Vehicle demonstrations led by the Korean Patriotic Patrol Team were also allowed on the condition of complying with standards such as 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 9 vans, and one person in a vehicle.

The police are planning to do all they can to ensure that this rally does not become another chance to re-proliferate. About 110 companies, and a maximum of 6000 personnel will be employed. If there were signs of a large-scale rally, it was decided whether or not to hit the car wall depending on the situation.

An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stressed, “We will do our best to ensure that the compliance matters are followed as much as possible in accordance with the court ruling,” and “we will take strict measures when illegal situations are discovered.”

Meanwhile, Seoul City has banned the assembly of 10 or more people in the city center since November 24 last year. On August 15, last year, as the Sarangjeil Church in Seongbuk and the Liberation Day rally began to spread, the second pandemic of Corona 19 occurred nationwide.
