This CES 2021 will be held entirely online (ALL-DIGITAL) for the first time in 55 years since it started in 1967 due to corona.
Korea is expected to participate in about 340 companies and institutions, the world’s second largest* after the United States, and in addition to the electronics industry, new markets through technology convergence in heterogeneous industries such as Amorepacific (a beauty service utilizing AI) and GS Caltex (future gas station). They plan to participate in search for advancement.

In the case of large companies, they plan to promote innovative technologies and products through the establishment of their own online exhibition hall.
SMEs and start-ups that possess technological prowess, but are weak in recognition, need to effectively increase their online promotion and marketing capabilities. Each will be opened to show innovation and focus on support for non-face-to-face export marketing.

The main fields of participation are product design and manufacturing (23 companies), wearables, digital health, etc. Health & Wellness (19 companies), and autonomous driving and automobile technology (14 companies).
Participating companies in the Korean Pavilion are supported to build individual online exhibition halls, produce digital contents such as promotional videos, and send samples of exhibits to overseas buyers.
The online Korean Pavilion provides integrated information on participating companies and online exhibits, while real-time non-face-to-face purchase consultations such as overseas buyers are also provided.
Through this, it is expected that it will be able to effectively draw out the demand for global cooperation, including overseas buyers, such as exports, technology alliances, and investment attraction.
Online K-Startup Hall

The Small and Medium Business Administration operates the’K-Startup’ pavilion where domestic start-ups with innovative technologies can be gathered in one place.
There are 97 domestic start-up companies participating in the online’K-Startup’ hall, and the main fields of participation are health & wellness (24 companies), 5G & Internet of things (24 companies), robots & artificial intelligence (15 companies). ), etc.
Start-up companies participating in the’K-Startup’ pavilion will open individual online booths within the CES 2021 online exhibition site to display digital contents such as company introductions and videos.
As CES 2021 is held entirely online, it is expected that it will be possible to gain more business opportunities by informing global visitors of the technology and capabilities of domestic start-up companies, beyond the limitations of time and space online.
Strengthening overseas marketing support
Meanwhile, digital booths of companies participating in the online’Korea Pavilion’ and’K-Startup Pavilion’ are scheduled to be operated for about a month after the closing.
Accordingly, for companies that participate in the’Korea Pavilion’, KOTRA plans to increase CES participation performance by providing full-cycle support* for export marketing from pre-promotion of exhibited items to video consultation after closing through KOTRA Worldwide Trade Center.

An official from the Ministry of Industry said, “Our exports have gone through a difficult period due to Corona 19, but they are on a clear recovery from the second half.” In order for our exports to continue to recover momentum, the first half of this year will be focused online, and the second half will be connected online and offline. Like CES, we plan to actively support Korean companies’ global advancement by closely supporting matching with overseas buyers.”
