Prior to Wuhan, China, a patient had already had a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in November 2019 in Italy.
According to local media such as La Repubblica on the 11th (local time), the patient was a 25-year-old woman from Milan, who had a biopsy on November 10, 2019 at the hospital for a specific skin disease that develops a red rash on her arm.
At that time, the disease name or pathogenic factor was not accurately identified. However, a research team at the University of Milan recently reanalyzed the woman’s biopsy records and concluded that it was a skin rash caused by Corona 19 infection.
It is known that 5-10% of people infected with Corona 19 suffer from skin diseases. At that time, the woman had no other symptoms, and the skin rash also disappeared about 5 months after the onset. The corona 19 serological test that the woman received in June last year revealed that virus antibodies were formed.
In Italy, on February 21, last year, a 38-year-old man in Codogno, a town near Milan, was identified as the first local transmission infection and was named’patient 1′(paziente 1).According to the results of this study, it was 1 time 4 months before that. There is a patient. It is one month ahead of the world’s first case of Corona 19 reported in Wuhan, China at the end of December 2019.
The results of this research, conducted in collaboration with the European Oncology Research Institute (IEO), were published in the British Journal of Dermatology.
