On the afternoon of the 12th, a lot of snow fell in Seoul and Gyeonggi, and an emergency took place again on the way home from work. The city of Seoul entered the first stage emergency work system from 12:00 noon on this day.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that all 33 snow removal agencies, including the autonomous district facilities corporation, will enter the first stage of emergency work.
The Meteorological Administration predicted that it would snow about 1 to 3 cm in the afternoon. According to the Meteorological Administration, the snow cloud belt created by the pneumatic valley passing through the north is moving northeast at a speed of 40 km/h. As this snow cloud belt enters the inland, the area where snow falls after 2 pm is expanding to the entire metropolitan area.
The time when the snow falls the most is 3-6 pm, which is expected to have a big impact on traffic on the way home from work. A lot of snow fell on the 6th, leading to severe traffic jams on the way home from work.
At the time, when the city of Seoul did not carry out snow removal work in time, the citizens suffered great inconvenience.
According to the snow forecast that day, the city of Seoul put in 4,000 manpower and 1,000 snow removal vehicles. Snow removal agents were sprayed on steep slopes and vulnerable roads in advance to prepare for snowfall.
In addition, they requested cooperation from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to prevent delays in the operation of snow-plow vehicles due to traffic congestion.
Je-Hyun Han, head of the Seoul safety department, said, “Today snow may continue until the time of work,” and “Citizens should refrain from using cars when leaving work and use public transportation.”
