[에너지데일리 조남준 기자]Korea Gas Safety Corporation President Lim Hae-jong, who is on the 100th day of his inauguration on the 25th, announced that he will push forward the current hydrogen safety management measures with a sense of speed for a rapid leap into the hydrogen economy.

President Lim Hae-jong evaluated this year as a time to lay the foundation for a safe hydrogen economy, such as the enactment of the hydrogen law and establishment of a hydrogen safety management system, and promote the hydrogen economy activation roadmap and hydrogen safety management measures in 2021 at a more rapid pace. It announced a plan to take a rapid leap forward and lead the global hydrogen economy.

To this end, as of January 1, 2021, the KTO expanded and reorganized the Hydrogen Safety Center into the Hydrogen Safety Technology Institute, reinforcing expertise by subdividing the existing two teams into a five-part system for each safety management field, and expanding the number of dedicated personnel to more than 80 people for quick work. A hydrogen safety foundation has been established to enable implementation.

In addition, for smooth hydrogen economy support, the hydrogen product test laboratory, which is an essential infrastructure for securing the stability of hydrogen products and commercial vehicles, the hydrogen bus component test and evaluation support center, and hydrogen gas safety experience that will provide the right information and experience opportunities for the public. It is also planning to accelerate the establishment of an education center.

President Lim Hae-jong also said that in preparation for the post-corona era in 2021, the company plans to focus its entire capabilities on establishing an untact gas safety management system and a private-led autonomous safety management system.

On the 100th day of his inauguration, President Hae-jong Lim said, “The last 100 days were a time to look back on the history of gas safety management for 47 years and to think about and prepare for the gas safety that the future era demands.” In preparation for the times, we will contribute to the advancement of the gas industry through the establishment of a fast-paced hydrogen safety infrastructure, grafting of untact to gas safety management, and private-led safety management, and will further faithfully fulfill the original work of gas safety.”
