On-off class platform’Taling’ attracts 14.7 billion won Series B investment-Start-up story platform’Platum’

On-off class platform’Taling’ attracted a total of 14.7 billion won Series B investment from Megastudy, Envester, Shinhan Alternative Investment Management, DSC Investment, and Shinhan Venture Investment.

This round, which included strategic and financial investments, included not only new stocks but also the sale of old stocks by existing shareholders, and Taling’s cumulative investment amounted to 19 billion won.

Taling, a startup founded by Korea University students in November 2016, started as a platform service that matches offline classes between tutors and students. Anyone can open classes with their own talents, and those who need talent can connect with tutors to take classes. Last year, it has established itself as an on/offline integrated class platform by adding VOD video service. Currently, it has opened and serviced over 8,000 classes in about 200 categories ranging from hobbies such as dance, baking, drawing, and flowers to job areas such as Excel, Photoshop, coding, and marketing.

In particular, unlike existing hobby-class platforms, the content targeting 2030 workers with deep career concerns through classes containing practical know-how of incumbent in each field is the difference. In addition, financial contents that are hotly interested in the MZ generation, such as stocks, real estate, live commerce, and arttech, can be accessed most quickly compared to the existing market.

Envester Hyung-soon Jeon, who participated in series A and B successively, said, “Taling is showing rapid growth, mainly among those in their 20s and 30s who want to spend their time more meaningfully.” We highly appreciate our operational capabilities, and we are happy to fulfill Taling’s mission together,” he explained the background of this investment.

Taling plans to expand its education business beyond offline classes to all areas of digital content such as live streaming, online VOD, and e-books.

Kim Yoon-hwan, CEO of Taling, said, “In the end, the core of the service scale-up stage is IT, and we will focus on upgrading the platform through which tutors can grow themselves.” Furthermore, he said, “Through this investment, we will focus on recruiting the best talents in all fields, including development positions, and we plan to strengthen our position as the best on-off class platform this year.”
