On the afternoon of the 12th, the day of the Lunar New Year, the expressways in Daejeon and Chungnam regions are showing congestion in some sections of the upbound line.

According to the Daejeon Chungnam Headquarters of the Korea Expressway Corporation, it is expected that it will take 2 hours from the Daejeon Tollgate on the Expressway to the Seoul Tollgate by car as of 6 pm on the same day.

At the same time, it is expected to take an hour and a half from Seoul to Daejeon.

The upbound line of the Gyeongbu Line is a 2km section near the Biryong Junction in Daejeon and a 17km section near the Ansong Station in Bukcheonan.

The upbound line of the Cheonan-Nonsan Expressway is delayed for a 20km section from Jeongan Rest Area to Nampungse IC.

The West Coast Expressway is a congested section of 22 km in the direction of Seoul from Dangjin to Seohae Bridge.

“The traffic volume is less than last year’s Lunar New Year’s holiday, and slightly more than the usual weekend traffic,” said the Korea Highway Corporation.

Also, he added, “From the number of vehicles that came down from Seoul on the first day of the holiday, it is not expected that the same congestion will occur after the New Year’s Day.”
