NCsoft (CEO Kim Taek-jin) declared that it would remove the starting salary limit if it were a new employee with talent. Neowiz decided to raise an additional 6 million won even though the annual salary negotiations had already ended in February. The wind is continuing to raise the salary in the domestic game industry, which has been littered by the shortage of developers.

NCsoft held a board meeting on the 11th and announced that it will implement the highest level of compensation policy in the information technology (IT) industry to secure excellent talent and strengthen the company’s global competitiveness. NCsoft has set a new annual salary for March-April every year and has been reflecting it since April, but this year, when the news of the successive impressions in the game industry was heard, it quickly made a decision.

NCsoft announced that the annual salary for the development group will increase by 13 million won and the non-development group will increase by 10 million won. In addition to the collective increase for all employees, there is also an additional annual salary increase for high-performing talented individuals. Along with this, NCsoft removed the upper limit on annual salary that can be given to outstanding talent by abolishing the starting system for new employees.

The minimum annual salary for new employees in 2021 who joined in January of this year is 55 million won for the developer group and 47 million won for the non-development group, and there is no upper limit. An NCsoft official said, “It is planned to set the industry’s highest level of salary to excellent talents, and to receive a higher annual salary depending on competence and expertise.”

In addition to the salary increase, NCsoft employees receive incentives twice this month. Regular incentives for business performance in 2020 are paid differently for each individual, as before. In addition, a special incentive of 8 million won for the CEO was set in order to share the best performance with all employees. It is scheduled to be paid to all employees regardless of job and position, including regular, contract, dispatched, and interns currently in office.

On this day, Neowiz also decided to raise an annual salary of 6 million won regardless of the development and non-development workers. In terms of the amount raised alone, it seems to be insufficient compared to Krafton and Webzen, who decided to raise an annual salary of 20 million won. However, Neowiz is drawing attention as it has already made an additional increase in the situation where the salary negotiations in February were over.
