NVIDIA, the world’s largest graphics card manufacturer, announced in a blog on the 18th (local time) that it would limit the Ethereum mining performance of its graphics cards to less than half.

Nvidia’s latest graphics card GeForce RTX 3000 series was popular around the world due to its high efficiency for cryptocurrency mining upon its launch. For this reason, it was difficult for gamers who enjoy settlement games to obtain the corresponding graphics card.

“GeForce Graphics is for gamers,” NVIDIA said. “The latest RTX 3000 series software driver update will limit cryptocurrency mining performance.”

Specifically, if the Ethereum mining algorithm is detected for the RTX 3060 graphics card released on the 25th of the RTX 3000 series, the mining performance is limited to 50% or less.

Nvidia hoped that this move would enable the RTX 3000 series to become a graphics card for gamers. However, there seems to be a separate situation.

Nvidia announced a plan to sell a dedicated graphics card’Ndivia CMP’ for Ethereum mining on a large scale while imposing restrictions on cryptocurrency on the RTX 3000 series. Nvidia CMP, first unveiled last month, does not have a screen output function, but it is a product with enhanced Ethereum mining efficiency.
