North Korea protested, saying, “We will cut off diplomatic relations,” saying that a businessman of its own, who had been tried in Malaysia for violating sanctions against North Korea such as’money laundering’, was handed over to the United States.

In a statement on the 19th, the North Korean Foreign Ministry said, “We sold our innocent citizens as’criminals’ and forced them to deliver them to the United States.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs argued, “Our citizens in question are workers who have been engaged in legal foreign trade activities in Singapore for many years,” and argued that “it is an absurd fabrication and a complete scheme to be involved in any’illegal money washing’.”

“This is a direct product of the anti-Republican conspiracy collusion created by the US’s heinous hostilities to isolate and oppress our Republic and the pro-American humiliation of the Malaysian authorities.”

The case referred to by North Korea is the case in which a North Korean businessman, Moon Chul-myeong, was arrested in Malaysia at the request of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 2019. On the 9th, the Malaysian Supreme Court dismissed Moon’s appeal requesting the refusal of US extradition and made the final decision of extradition.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned, “From now on, the Malaysian authorities will be fully responsible for all consequences that may occur between the two sides,” and warned that “the US, the pilot behind this incident, and the main culprit, will also pay a reasonable price.”
