On the 17th, Chosun JoongAng TV reported that North Koreans and soldiers held a military-industrial coalition meeting in Pyongyang’s Kim Il-Sung Square to reinforce the determination of the 8th Party Congress. In the crowd demonstration following the speeches and discussions, participants marched with large banners and hand signs with various slogans vowing to implement the party’s decisions.

The Supreme People’s Assembly, which is the regular parliament in the south, is the highest sovereign body under the constitution of North Korea. It usually holds regular meetings once a year to revise the constitution and laws, personnel of major state organizations, and approve budget proposals.

The meeting was attended by Choi Ryong-hae, Chairman of the Supreme People’s Assembly, Chairman of the Supreme People’s Assembly, Vice Chairman of the Party’s Central Military Committee, Lee Byung-cheol, and Prime Minister Kim Deok-hoon.

State Council Chairman Kim Jong-un and Party secretary Cho Yong-won did not attend.

Prime Minister Kim Deok-hoon said in his cabinet business report, “Severe deficiencies were found in the work of the cabinet during the execution of the 5-year national economic development strategy.” He pointed out that it was short of the goals of the economic indicators.

At the meeting, ▲organizational issues ▲the implementation of the five-year plan for national economic development ▲the settlement of the 2020 national budget execution and the national budget in 2021 were decided on the agenda.

Most of the ministerial positions of major ministries in the cabinet were replaced, but the details of the reorganization of the members of the State Affairs Committee, which attracted attention, were not mentioned.

At first, North Korea announced that it had decided to hold the Supreme People’s Assembly at the end of this month (after the 20th) at the beginning of last month, but it slightly advanced the schedule.
