The 8th Congress of the Labor Party, the largest political event in North Korea, marks the week of opening.
Chosun Central News Agency reported on the news of the 6th meeting held the day before the 11th, and reported “the meeting continues”, and it seems that the meeting continued on that day.
At the previous day’s meeting, elections were held for the party’s central leadership, including the appointment of Kim Jong-un as the Labor Party’s general secretary, and the first plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee was held.
Prior to this, the Central Inspection Committee of the Party has already completed the project consolidation and revision of the Party’s rules. General Secretary Kim Jong-un made a report on the business summary for three days on the 5th to 7th, and the representative discussion continued on the 8th to 9th.
The remainder of the agenda for this conference is about the adoption of the Central Committee’s business consolidation decision, so there is a possibility that Secretary General Kim will declare the closing within a day or two.
Compared to the four-day schedule of the 7th Party Congress in 2016, the schedule is already twice as long.
North Korea held the 5th Party Congress in 1970 over a total of 12 days. The 3rd-4th Congress held in 1956 and 1961 lasted for 7 and 8 days respectively.
In particular, the possibility of reducing the party conference schedule this time due to the prevention of novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) was predicted, but rather, thousands of people are spending about a week at the conference hall without masks.
Some observers say that the meeting held for a week without wearing a mask while Chairman Kim Jong-un was present is a circumvention of North Korea’s confidence in the fight against Corona 19.
On the other hand, attention is also paid to whether North Korea conducted a feverish ceremony in the severe cold, where the minimum temperature in Pyongyang reached minus 14 degrees Celsius.
In the morning of that day, the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that North Korea had caught the situation in which North Korea held a party conference-related parade on the late night of the 10th.
On October 10 last year, on October 10th, on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Labor Party, there is a precedent that North Korea held a’late night fever ceremony’ from midnight.
At that time, the North Korean broadcaster delivered the appearance of a fever by means of a recording broadcast from 7 pm.
