On the 9th, Chairman of the Agricultural Cooperative Federation Lee Seong-hee interviewed Vietnam Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tung to Korea at the main building of the Agricultural Cooperative Federation in Jung-gu, Seoul, and shared opinions on the agricultural development and business cooperation plans of the two countries.

Ambassador Nguyen Bhutung visited the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation to hear about the development experience of the Korean Agricultural Cooperatives for the development of Vietnamese agriculture and rural communities through cooperatives and to discuss business cooperation between the Korean Agricultural Cooperatives and the Vietnam Cooperative Federation (VCA).

After signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the VCA in 2009, the NACF conducted various cooperation projects such as export of agricultural products, support for the supply of agricultural materials and agricultural machinery, transfer of know-how in the agricultural product distribution center, and education and training.

In addition, it is expanding its business by opening a branch of Nonghyup Bank in Hanoi and lending more than 100 million dollars (113.9 billion won) last year.

At the meeting, Chairman Lee asked the Vietnamese government to cooperate with the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh branch of the Nonghyup Bank, and received an answer from Ambassador Nguyen Bhutung that he would actively cooperate.

In the future, the NACF plans to gradually expand the field of cooperation with Vietnam, such as transferring Korea’s advanced farming technology and know-how, and exporting agricultural products and agricultural materials, taking into account the Corona 19 situation.

Ambassador Nguyen Bhutung said, “The Agricultural Cooperatives are helping Vietnamese married immigrant women settle in Korean rural areas. We ask VCA to continue to share know-how and support the Korean Agricultural Cooperatives for the development of agricultural and rural communities in Vietnam.”

Chairman Lee Seong-hee said, “The Nonghyup will support the establishment of the Vietnamese cooperative’s start-up farming support center to pass on the experiences of the Korean Agricultural Cooperatives and cooperate with VCA in various ways.” Quoting the Vietnamese proverb,’If you have a friend and a will, you can succeed without being lonely.’ I prayed for shared growth through partnerships.
