No. 1 in the NBA club valuation New York for 6 consecutive years… 2nd place is Golden State

The New York Knicks has been ranked No. 1 for the sixth year in a row in the US economic magazine Forbes’ NBA team valuation.

On the 11th, Forbes released a ranking that evaluated the value of the 30 NBA clubs.

According to this, New York was recognized for its value of 5 billion dollars (about 5 trillion won), and it did not miss the first place in this category for 6 consecutive years.

New York failed to play the playoffs for seven consecutive seasons from the 2013-2014 season to last season, and during that period, the team scored poorly, including the bottom of the East Conference twice.

However, the value of the team increased by 9% from last year due to the renovation and repair of Madison Square Garden, the home stadium, and the contract for broadcasting rights to local TV.

As a result, New York became the third club to be valued at $5 billion after the Dallas Cowboys of American Professional Football (NFL) and the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball in the Forbes evaluation.

Second place was the Golden State Warriors, which was rated at $4.7 billion.

Since the 2019-2020 season, Golden State, which uses the Chase Center, which was completed in San Francisco, California, as its home stadium, has risen from 3rd to 2nd last year.

Teams other than the New York and Los Angeles Lakers ranked second in this Forbes evaluation, after the Chicago Bulls in 1999, after 22 years in Golden State.

The Los Angeles Lakers finished third with $4.6 billion, followed by Chicago ($3.3 billion) and Boston Celtics ($3.2 billion).

The average value of the 30 clubs was $2.2 billion, up 4% from $2.1 billion last year.

The bottom three teams were ranked 28th in the Minnesota Timberwolves ($1.4 billion), 29th in New Orleans Pelicans ($1.35 billion) and 30th in Memphis Grizzlies ($1.3 billion).
