NFL Green Bay quarterback Rogers becomes third MVP

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Shin Chang-yong = US Professional Football (NFL) Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers (38) was selected as the Best Player (MVP) of the 2020 season.

The US sports media ESPN reported on the 7th (Korean time) that Rogers was selected as the MVP by sweeping 44 out of 50 press votes.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen received four votes, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahoms received two votes.

For Rogers, it is the third personal MVP after the 2011 and 2014 seasons.

The top MVP winner in the NFL is Peyton Manning, who won five times.

Rogers tied for second place after Brett Fab, Jim Brown, Tom Brady and Johnny Unitas.

Rogers started in 16 regular league games this season, throwing the most 48 touchdown passes in the league. Still, the number of interceptions was the least at 5.

According to Elias Sports, Rogers is the third player to achieve the most touchdown passes and minimum intercept at the same time.

Before Rogers, Unitas wrote in 1958 and Brady wrote in 2010.

Tennessee Titans running back Derek Henry was selected as the offensive player of the year, and Aaron Donald, the defensive tackle of the Los Angeles Rams, was selected as the defender of the year.

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and Washington Football Team’s Defensive End Chase Young were named Rookie of the Year for Offense and Defense, respectively.

Washington quarterback Alex Smith, who returned after several surgeries, received the Reclining of the Year Award.
