New York Stock Market Turns Up… Dow index rises 0.24%, breaking high

S&P 500·Nasdaq also rose again after turning down the previous day

The Dow Index on the New York Stock Market rose 0.24%, rewriting a record high in terms of closing prices. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq, which had turned down the previous day along with the Dow, also turned back on the rise in a day.

On the 30th (hereafter local time), the Dow Jones Industrial Average of the US New York Stock Market closed at 33,409.56, up 73.89p (0.24%) from the closing price of the previous trading day.

The Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 index rose 5.0p (0.13%) to 3732.04, while the Nasdaq composite index rose 19.78p (0.15%) to 12,2870.00.

These indices turned downward on the previous day and then turned upward on the same day. The Dow Index recorded an all-time high based on the closing price.

The Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. stock prices rose as the Dow broke an all-time high, and that the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are set to close in 2020 with significant gains. Meanwhile, he said that the US stock market rose slightly on the same day thanks to the rising stock prices of energy and materials companies.

The media wrote that while the coronavirus pandemic continues to burden the economy, the leading index is ending 2020 with a significant rise, the S&P 500 rose 16% this year, and the Nasdaq composite index rose 44%.

Stock markets in major European countries, which opened their final market this year, ended lower. The UK London Stock Exchange FTSE 100 index fell 0.71% from the closing price on the previous trading day to 6555.82, while the Paris CAC 40 index in France closed at 5599.41, down 0.22%.

Germany’s Frankfurt Stock Exchange DAX index fell 0.31% to 13,718.78, while the pan-European index Euro Stoxx 50 index closed at 3571.59, down 0.27%.

International oil and gold prices rose. On the same day, on the New York Mercantile Exchange, the Western Texas crude oil (WTI) for delivery in February of next year closed at $48.40, an increase of $0.40 (0.8%) per barrel from the previous day, and the gold for delivery in February on the New York Merchandise Exchange was $10.5 (0.6%) per ounce. It rose to $1893.40.
