New coach Park Jung-eun, who will lead the BNK reform “I will show you a refreshing attack basketball” (Japanese Q&A)

[점프볼=서호민 기자] “I’ll show you a cool attack basketball.”

Former WKBL Competition Operation Headquarters Park Jung-eun was appointed as the second manager of BNK in Busan.

On the afternoon of the 18th, the Busan BNK Some Women’s Professional Basketball Team announced the appointment of new coach Park Jung-eun, Yeon-ha Byun, and Young-hwa Kim, through a live broadcast on the club’s YouTube. The new director Park Jung-eun is from Busan, who graduated from Gwaebeopcho, Dongju Girls’ Middle School, and Dongju Girls’ Sang (currently Dongju Girls’ High School). New coach Park, who made a comeback to his hometown of Busan, said, “I’m happy to come as a team from my hometown. As the expectations of the fans are high, I will try to meet those expectations.” I will reward you with basketball,” he added.

The following is a question and answer with the new director Park Jeong-eun.

Q. How do you feel about being appointed as the new director?
Since I was a player, my dream was to become a professional team manager. When I first received a supervisory offer, I was distracted and I couldn’t feel it. It is an honor to be seated as a professional team manager, and I feel a lot of responsibility. I will try hard with a sense of responsibility.

Q. When did you get a manager’s offer from the club?
After the semifinal playoffs were over, I got a call from the club. However, at that time, I wasn’t thinking about that part in particular because my role as the head of the WKBL competition was first. I only thought that I had to do my best so that the postseason could be safely over until the championship. After the champ match was over, the club contacted me again, and the manager’s proposal was accepted.

Q. I think I’m more impressed when I start my career as a director in my hometown, Busan.
It is a place where I was born in Busan, started playing basketball, and spent my school days. I was really happy to hear the news that the BNK team was founded two years ago. When I graduated from school, I thought about what it would have been like to have a team. I am happy to return to my hometown of Busan.

Q. I watched women’s basketball with various experiences such as coaches and game headquarters. How do you see the flow of BNK from the outside?
As the head of the game headquarters, I was able to watch basketball from all sides while going to the entire game scene. BNK did not perform well, but thought the players were full of enthusiasm and had potential.

Q. What is the composition of the coaching staff?
Coach Byeon Yeon-ha is a legend that everyone knows. I was also a coach of BNK the previous season, so I thought I would have a good grasp of the players’ strengths, weaknesses, and difficulties. Coach Kim Yeong-hwa has been a coach in the amateur basketball world for a long time and has learned and prepared the basic parts that he must have as a leader. He is a very sincere and hard-working leader. I thought that I would play a good supporting role in that part, so I chose two coaches.

Q. Do you have any talks with the coaches?
First of all, the team was accustomed to losing, so he told them to try to play a winning basketball anyway. If you’re used to losing, the joy disappears. I think that if you are a professional player, you should run with the goal of winning. To play winning basketball, I will put my efforts head-to-head with the coaches.

Q. How are you going to organize the players?
I’m thinking of myself, but it’s still not a situation where I can give a definite answer. The FA market hasn’t even opened yet. After in-depth discussions with the coaching staff, I will continue to think about reinforcing players.

Q. In the past two seasons, BNK hasn’t had a player that could be the centerpiece of the team. Do you have any thoughts on this part?

For that reason, we are also considering recruiting an FA player. However, for now, the most important part is strengthening the team organization. I think a solid organizational ability can also be a focal point. We are not too bound by player reinforcement, and we plan to focus on improving the team’s organizational power.

Q. What team do you plan to follow as a model?

From my career as a player, I experienced so many leaders as I went through professional and national teams. It really helped me a lot in my leadership career, and I think it’s time to make it mine. Basketball is a sport in which goals must be scored in the end. There is a saying that defense calls for victory, but if it is the king, I want to play a cool and hot attack basketball.

Q. There have been many cases of female leader failure in the past. Will you have a great sense of responsibility for this part?
right. In that sense, I am grateful to the BNK club for giving me such a great opportunity. I also feel a great sense of responsibility. However, I would like to see you as a leader versus a leader rather than a female leader or a novice leader. I prepared a lot while going around the field. Although the BNK team is a new team that has been established for only two years, I think it is a process of growing into a team with a tradition. I want to create a sticky and solid team rather than a clumsy team.

Q. There was also a mention of her husband in the club’s live broadcast.
In fact, I had a lot of thoughts about my separation from my husband, but my husband first said to me, “You can’t be without me. I will follow along to Busan and contribute to the revival of Busan basketball.” I’ve been fond of basketball since before. I will work with my husband to bring about the revival of Busan basketball.

Q. Finally, please tell your Busan fans a word of resolution.
Whenever I visited the Busan Stadium, I was thrilled as I watched the fans send enthusiastic support and the players play hard to repay. I will reward you with basketball that wins as much as you have high expectations, and basketball that is hot. I ask for a lot of support.
