Netflix opens the era of 10 million monthly users

It was estimated that the number of domestic Netflix users exceeded 10 million monthly.

According to the’domestic OTT app market analysis’ published by IG Works’ data analysis solution’Mobile Index’ on the 15th, the number of Netflix users (MAU) per month last month was 1,03283. Next,’Wave’ (39,489,950 people),’Teabing’ (2.69,509 people),’U+ mobile tv’ (212,6608 people),’Season’ (168,3471 people),’Watcha’ (1,380,5303 people) People) in order.

Netflix’s MAU showed a significant increase compared to last January (4.7 million, 4,524 people). Mobile Index analyzed that the number of users steadily increased with the addition of the Netflix lineup.

In fact, Netflix originals such as’Kingdom Season 2′,’Paper House Season 4′,’Health Teacher Eun-young Ahn’,’Wonderful Rumors’,’Sweet Home’ and’Seungri-ho’, starting with’Itaewon Class’ in February of last year. As the number of affiliated content increases, there are voices that the frequency of use has also increased.

In particular, as the lineup of original content, including Seung-ho in February, increased, daily users also increased. According to Mobile Index, the number of daily users (DAU) of Netflix as of the 1st of last month was 2.251,139, up 1.9 times from the same period of the previous year. During the same period, Netflix was the highest among OTT services at 72.7% compared to app installations.

While using other OTT apps, the percentage of overlapping use with Netflix showed different distributions. The percentage of overlapping Netflix usage of domestic OTT app users was over 40% on average. In particular, the rate of overlapping Netflix usage of Watcha users reached 65.5%. The single use rate was also 43.4%, showing a gap of more than 30% from the second wave.

On the other hand, the number of monthly users of major domestic OTT apps has been found to remain at a constant level since January of last year. Based on Android OS, the sum of MAU in February excluding duplicate users of Wave, Teabing, U+ Mobile TV, Season, and Watcher apps was 5.59,072 26, down 11,112 from last January (597,6838).

Coupang Play, which entered the market in December of last year, was found to maintain an average of about 70,000 DAUs per day after the number of users rapidly gathered at the beginning of the launch. It was analyzed that the main users of Coupang Play were women in their 30s, accounting for 21.1% of all users in February.

Meanwhile, the domestic OTT app market analysis report is reported to have analyzed 2 billion data (Android and iOS integration) of 40 million mobile devices on average daily from January 1 last year to March 1 this year based on AI algorithms.
