Netflix canceled, but no refund… In the future it is possible

The business practices of online video platform operators, which have provided unfavorable services to consumers, such as not refunding fees to customers who canceled automatic payments in the middle, have been hampered.

The Fair Trade Commission announced on the 27th that it reviewed the terms and conditions of six online video platform operators (Netflix, Wave, Teabing, Season, Watcher, Google YouTube) and corrected seven unfair provisions. Netflix, Season, and Watcha did not refund the monthly fee already paid even if the customer canceled the automatic payment. However, in the future, if you cancel within 7 days of payment, you must refund all of them. However, during this period, consumers should never watch the video.

YouTube and Watcha had provisions that could increase service charges arbitrarily without notifying consumers in advance. This clause is changed so that the consumer must agree in advance when the price increases, and the automatic payment will not be renewed if not. In addition, Netflix and Watcha have a free trial period when they sign up for the first time, and the explanation has been reinforced so that consumers can clearly see that related services are paid from the time they sign up. Wave, Teabing, and Season had to remove the provision of penalizing members for refunds.

Reimburse consumers who suffered damage from service defects with cyber money instead of cash (wave, teabing), do not refund gifted cyber money and paid services (teabing, watcha), or receive refunds for charged points (season) One provision was also corrected.
