(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Hyun-gu and Choi In-young = Na Seong-beom (32, NC Dinos)’s advance to the American Professional Baseball Major League (MLB) has failed.
Na Seong-beom was unable to finalize the signing contract with any of the 30 major league clubs until 7 am (Korean time) on the 10th, the deadline for posting negotiations.
An official from the NC club said, “I received a call from Na Seong-beom that the posting ended without any results.”
As a result, Na Seong-beom’s re-challenge to advance into the MLB is expected to be delayed after this season.
Na Seong-beom, a slugger representing Korean professional baseball, led the NC’s regular league and Korean series championships last year, and then tried to advance into the MLB through the posting system.
It was officially posted to 30 major league teams on the 10th of last month and was qualified to negotiate for 30 days.
MLB’s most influential agent, Scott Boras, negotiated with the 30 major league clubs on behalf of Na Seong-beom, but the expected news did not come.
In the aftermath of the spread of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) last year, a major league club, which was hit hard by finances, has created an atmosphere of reluctance to invest large amounts of money.
In addition, it is considered that the cause of the contract failure was that Na Seong-beom did not receive much attention due to the history of injury.
During the 2019 game, Na Seong-beom was on the operating table due to a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee and a rupture of the cartilage plate.
Earlier, the American media said that Na Seong-beom moved from center field to right fielder after the operation, and the stolen base was also reduced.

Na Seong-beom, who has been living in the United States from the middle of last month, is expected to return to Korea soon to observe the trends of major league clubs as well as personal training.
Na Seong-beom is training at the Boras Sports Training Institute in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Na Seong-beom is expected to challenge the MLB again after acquiring the free agent (FA) qualification after remaining at the NC.
An NC official said, “It was a confident challenge to my long dream, but I was put off until the next opportunity.”
In an interview last month, Na Seong-beom said, “I feel comfortable. Even if I don’t do it this time, I don’t have a big burden because I have another chance to free agency next year.”
Na Seongbeom celebrates the season at NC this year. For NC, the remnant of Na Seong-beom, a major hitter and star, was given strength to challenge the championship for the second consecutive year.
Na Seong-beom returned from injury last year with a batting average of 0.324 and 34 home runs, and since his debut in 2013, he recorded a career batting average of 0.317 and 179 home runs for eight seasons.
