What if NCsoft’s digital platform know-how and CJ ENM’s content development power combine? Leading companies in the IT industry with technology are united as a joint venture.

On the 5th, NCsoft and CJ ENM announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for business cooperation in the fields of content and digital platforms. The two companies plan to establish a joint venture within this year through this MOU. The joint venture develops various content businesses by combining NC’s IT technology and CJ ENM’s entertainment business know-how.
The two companies plan to provide a new digital content experience by bringing together the capabilities of each company through this strategic alliance. The goal is to secure additional core competencies to compete with global content companies in the fierce content war that unfolds without borders.
Kim Jong-ha, head of NCsoft’s entertainment business division, said, “As the competencies of the two companies are different, I think that synergies can produce meaningful results.”

NCsoft and CJ ENM have built their capabilities by developing an entertainment business that utilizes digital content technology.
At the beginning of this year, NCsoft is planning to release’UNIVERSE’, a K-pop entertainment platform where artists such as Kang Daniel, The Boyz, Monsta X, IZone, and ATEZ participate. It is also planning to invest in content that combines entertainment content with IT technology such as AI, motion capture, and character scan.

CJ ENM hosted’KCON:TACT’ and ‘2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)’ non-face-to-face with K-pop artists participating last year. Combining technologies such as mixed reality (XR) and volumetric with broadcast content has caught the attention of music fans around the world. In’Once Again’, broadcasted last month, the stage of the late Turtleman and late Kim Hyun-sik was also reproduced using artificial intelligence (AI) voice restoration technology.
Lee Sun, head of the music business division of CJ ENM’s Music Contents Division, said, “We plan to lead the trend of the future entertainment industry, where the importance of technology is increasing by combining CJ ENM’s content production and business capabilities and NCsoft IT platform-based business capabilities.”
