Naver real swords and news topics disappeared into history

On the 25th, Naver abolished the’Raising Search Keywords’ service that has been operating for 16 years. In the Naver PC version, the weather information is displayed in place of the existing rapidly rising search word, and in the mobile version, the tab itself is removed. On the same day,’News Topics’ disappeared into history after 11 years.

The real-time rapidly rising search word service, first introduced in 2005, functioned as a scale to show public opinion in real time. However, problems such as macro manipulation and suspicion of commercial and political use continued to occur, which hurt reliability.

Naver has broken down the service in a way that provides charts for all, age groups, and time periods, and applied artificial intelligence (AI) technology to show user-customized charts. During the election, the service was temporarily suspended, but the controversy did not diminish. In the end, Naver announced on the 4th of this month, “In accordance with the huge trend of wanting to actively consume the information I need in abundance of information, the actual inspection service will be terminated on February 25.” Instead, Naver Advanced’Data Lab’It plans to respond to the demand for trend information. It is a service that provides rapidly rising search terms or search word trends, shopping insights, regional statistics, and comment statistics.

On the same day, the news topic service also disappeared into history 11 years after it started under the name of’hot topic keyword’ in 2010. This service has provided a chart of’currently rising trends’ by counting frequently used keywords by time based on documents generated from news articles.

On the 24th of the previous day, Naver said, “With the change in the way news is consumed based on media subscriptions, users are choosing news for each media company, except for the news provided on the first mobile screen. In line with the recommended consumption trend (following the actual examination), the news topic has also ended.”
