Naver abolishes controversial’real sword’

On the 21st, Naver announced that it would abolish’real-time search terms’.

On the afternoon of the 21st, Naver posted a blog on the afternoon of the 21st, “The’Raising Search Word’, which tried to show a world where long-tail information, which was difficult to reveal before the Internet, can coexist with big issues. The service will be terminated on February 25 in accordance with the desired change of trend,” he said. “The mobile Naver Home search chart will also be terminated.”

Naver explained that “the search terms entered by users are explosively diversifying/ subdividing” as a reason for the abolition of’real test’. Unlike the past, it is judged that the’real test’ dealing with major issues is no longer valid in a situation where content consumption according to taste is actively taking place.

However, it is possible that Naver’s’real sword’ was controversial in the political world, and was conscious of the political controversy in that it was decided to abolish it before the by-election period of Seoul Mayor and Busan mayor. Previously, Naver reorganized it into user-customized actual inspections, and temporarily suspended the actual inspections during the last general election.

In 2019, in the phase of appointment of former Justice Minister Cho Kook, as real prosecutors aimed at the leadership of the Free Korea Party (currently the power of the people) followed by real prosecutors such as “Strive for the Fatherland”, Na Gyeong-won made a protest visit to Naver, suggesting the regulation of real prosecution.

Meanwhile, real-time search terms have been criticized for providing an abusing guideline by helping to mass-produce articles tailored to’real test keywords’ that are not main issues. With the abolition of the actual test on Naver, it seems inevitable that not a few changes will be made to the online response of the media.
