When it became difficult for people to gather at the National Mall as in the past due to coronavirus infection and security issues, the stars and stripes symbolizing the people and flags of each state were instead inserted here.

The National Mall is a park in Washington, DC, between the US Capitol, Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. Whenever the inauguration ceremony of the previous US president was held, a large crowd gathered here.

The number of flags of the Stars and Stripes on the National Mall reaches 191,500. Flags of 56 US states and territories were also posted. Biden-elect will be inaugurated at the Capitol Hill at noon on the 20th (local time) and will be officially inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States.
