After a five-hour marathon meeting, six high prosecutors across the country expressed concern about the Severe Crime Investigation Office (heavy water office) promoted by the ruling party.

On the 8th, Assistant Prosecutor General Cho Nam-gwan (Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office) held a meeting of the High Prosecutors’ Office at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office in Seocho-dong, Seoul. The meeting was attended by Cho Sang-cheol, Seoul High Prosecutor, Gang Nam-il, Daejeon High Prosecutor, Gu Bon-seon Gwangju High Prosecutor, Oh In-seo, Suwon High Prosecutor, Jang Young-soo, Daegu High Prosecutor, and Park Seong-jin, Busan High Prosecutor. Of the nine high prosecutors nationwide, all except the head of the Institute of Justice and the vice minister of the Ministry of Justice attended.

The meeting on this day was longer than expected. The great swordsman said it would initially start the meeting at 10:30 am and end around 1 pm. However, the actual meeting ended at 3:20 pm. It is twice as long as expected.

At the high prosecutors’ meeting, the opposition was clarified about the promotion of the heavy water agency, which had garnered interest. The Supreme Prosecutor’s Office said, “At the high prosecutors’ meeting, we shared our awareness of the first-line concerns about the legislative movement that would lead to a significant change in the criminal justice system,” and “we decided to actively express opinions according to the procedure in a way that the people sympathize with.”

Previously, the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office collected opinions from the field on the establishment of the Heavy Water Agency at the front-line prosecutors’ office.
