The first step toward a carbon-neutral society

Namwon City has taken the first step toward a carbon-neutral society by declaring the 2050 carbon-neutral goal for the first time in Jeollabuk-do.
As part of the Green New Deal Comprehensive Plan for a Carbon-Neutral Society, the city declared Namwon’s 2050 carbon-neutral goal in a non-face-to-face manner in the city hall meeting room on the 3rd.
Namwon City’s 2050 Carbon Neutral Declaration is a declaration of carbon neutrality by major developed countries, and while reinforcing efforts to respond to the climate crisis as a leading strategy for a low-carbon economy, in the case of Korea, the economy and society continue to increase greenhouse gas emissions. It was prepared to aim for a net-zero society to achieve a drastic green transition.
In the declaration that day, four visions were announced, including 2050 carbon neutrality in Namwon City.
According to the city, in the declaration, △ A 2050 carbon-neutral city to be achieved with citizens, a city that creates a green happiness for citizens, and a pleasant natural eco-city city, etc., set three goals and promoted detailed action plans to reduce greenhouse gases △ Overcoming this crisis with citizens △ Establishing an energy conversion plan aimed at self-reliance in regional energy △ Executing step-by-step implementation △ Strong commitment toward a carbon-neutral society, including the establishment of a social safety net so that all citizens can live a safe and happy life from the climate crisis. .
With this declaration, the city plans to promote a variety of strategies to overcome the economic crisis caused by Corona 19 in the future as well as the climate and environmental crisis at the same time.
Namwon Mayor Lee Hwan-ju said, “Through the declaration of the 2050 carbon-neutral goal in Namwon, we presented “the first step toward a carbon-neutral society” as Namwon-si’s vision for the Green New Deal. We will consolidate the capabilities of municipal administration so that we can do it.”
