In addition, on the 9th, the Democratic Party criticized Jeong Jin-kyung, a member of the Committee to Organize Past History for Truth and Reconciliation, recommended by the People’s Power, for resigning due to controversy over sexual harassment. It has been three days since Democratic Party lawmaker Nam In-soon called for the resignation of female members of the People’s Power, due to suspicion that Park Won-soon, former mayor of Seoul, had forwarded the suspicion of sexual harassment to the city hall.

A spokesman at Shin Young University said in a comment on the day that “Jung member was suspended for three months for sexual harassment of three female students when he was a professor at Chungnam National University Law School,” he said. “The power of the people is to apologize.” “Professor Jung excluded the history of Chungnam National University from the experience submitted to the National Assembly, and passed the verification of the people’s strength.” He pointed out, “Isn’t the power of the people, the first opposition party, lost their ability to self-regulate, and the verification system collapsed?” .

Spokesman Shin also said, “Following the withdrawal of Rep. Kim Byung-wook who is suspected of sexual assault, he recommends committee member Chung, and has shown a return to the days of the Saenuri Party, which was engulfed in various sexual scandals in the past.

Earlier, the YouTube channel “Garosero Research Institute” raised suspicion that Congressman Kim committed sexual violence to an intern secretary in another lawmaker’s office at a hotel in Andong, Gyeongbuk, in 2018 when he was an assistant to the National Assembly. Rep. Kim said, “I will file a complaint about the spread of the false facts of Ka Se-yeon.”

Spokesman Shin also criticized the case of former Blue House spokesman Yoon Chang-jung and former National Assembly Speaker Park Hee-tae, saying, “The party name has changed several times, but the behavior has not changed.” During a visit to the US in May 2013, former President Park Geun-hye resigned after being accused of sexually harassing a woman in her twenties who worked as an intern at the Korean Embassy in Washington, DC. Former National Assembly Speaker Park Hee-tae was handed over to trial for sexual harassment, including touching a caddy’s body while playing golf at a golf course in Wonju, Gangwon-do, and was sentenced to six months in prison in the Supreme Court and one year probation.

This is a situation where the people’s power has been criticized for sexual violence by Democratic Party members. On the 6th, the power of the people demanded that Democratic Party lawmaker Nam In-soon, who is suspected of leaking the contents of former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon’s sexual harassment accusation to the perpetrator, to resign.

Public Power Seoul Party spokesman Park Yong-chan said in September last year, “It was not enough that the sexual violence incidents of Ahn Hee-jeong, Oh Geo-don, and Park Won-soon gave a shock. Before it was too late, the Democratic Party urged the party to come up with special measures to deal with various sexual crimes.”
