On the 27th, Nak-yeon Lee, CEO of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party, said, “There will be quite a surprising change”, saying, “If tomorrow, the party-government negotiations on emergency disaster subsidies will be finished.”

In this regard, the government is expected to announce an additional budget for remediation including the 4th disaster support fund on the 2nd of next month. It is known that this supplementary plan will include concentrated support for the victims, including small business owners, job countermeasures in response to employment shock, and quarantine budget for vaccination. It is also expected to share how much gross national income per capita (GNI) fell last year in the aftermath of the novel coronavirus infection.

On the day the government announces the supplementary bill, the National Statistical Office announces the’January Industrial Activity Trend’. Industrial activity trend is a comprehensive companion indicator to gauge the real economy situation in Korea. On the 4th of next month, the Bank of Korea is also planning to disclose the ‘4th quarter of 2020 and annual national income (tentative)’.

Meanwhile, Lee’s trip to Gyeongnam was carried out in support of Southeastern mega cities. At the time of the interview, Lee said, “Yesterday the National Assembly passed the Special Act on Gadeokdo New Airport,” and emphasized that “Boo-Ul-Gyeong Megacity (formation) will be in full swing with this opportunity.”
